Grey Wolfe Publishing Is Evolving To Better Serve Authors Worldwide
As the publishing industry changes, so too must publishers and literary service providers. As we have seen in recent years, publishing companies that decline to anticipate the advancement of Author Evolution perish. More and more, writers are taking an active role in directing their writing career. Some are electing to align themselves with companies that provide full-service publishing, similar to “the big-five traditional houses”, with no up-front costs; while others choose to become fully immersed in the process, selecting a company that offers project-specific services and a formidable education in the skills necessary to create quality self-published books at reasonable prices.
From the beginning, Grey Wolfe Publishing’s mission has been to assist independent authors in becoming the best they can be; and it is with a Howl of Enthusiasm that we support this changing dynamic in the publishing industry.
Early in 2016, Grey Wolfe Publishing reorganized to serve our Pack of Writers and Readers more effectively. As a first step, we streamlined our bloated and ineffective marketing department and restructured our partnership publishing model by assigning 100% of the royalties and distribution choices directly to our authors. Our goal was to give more flexibility and control, both through creative outreach and financial stability, back to our authors. This first step was well-received, and a higher plateau of success was realized for the authors with whom we have partnered.
Write Duck Press: The New Independent Option We are passionate in maintaining our commitment toward providing access to the finest caliber book production services for independent authors. In keeping with that mission, our second step in the reorganization plan has been to establish a new division and imprint called Write Duck Press. This department’s goal is to offer writers professional services and DIY Coaching sessions at an affordable rate. We have adapted our innovative, multi-stage editorial approach to align well with the concept of a “Deep Water” manuscript development process which has been proven to transform fledgling manuscripts into books of distinction.
Write Duck Press also provides “Nesting Services” (interior design) for both print and e-book formats, in all genres, as well as “Marketing Pond Design” to include custom covers, bookmarks, media kits, and website builds. Our dynamic team of editors and design experts offer DIY Self-Publishing Coaching to help writers build the proper foundation for their book – and their writing career – before they go to press.
Moreover, we are excited to announce that Write Duck Press is taking additional steps beyond typical publishing service providers by offering two new innovative programs. The first is “Quack Translation”, giving your book an opportunity to reach readers in their native tongue. The second is our “Bilateral Breathing Program”, a creative audio book production service which offers two styles toward enhancing your storytelling with spoken word. We believe these tools will enrich your writing career exponentially while others struggle with their marketing strategies.
With our newly designed “DIY Coaching” curriculum,Write Duck Press will stand next to writers on the book production shoreline and mentor them through publishing options, marketing tools, distribution options, social media engagement, and much more at fees aspiring authors can easily afford. We are certain that our team’s skills and experience in these important techniques will enhance your writing career and keep your book from drowning in the wake of the authors who have come before you.
Whether you choose one service or select the "Full Migration" all-inclusive publishing option, Write Duck Press will become your lifeguard for traveling safely through the waters of publication from first book to last.
What About Grey Wolfe Publishing? In keeping with our evolutionary plan, Grey Wolfe Publishing will continue our mission to encourage authors wishing to build their writer’s platform and serve their communities with the publication of our various Journals and Anthologies, the proceeds of which support many different charities throughout the United States. We will continue to work with schools, universities, senior centers, and other non-profit organizations to present Creative Writing Workshops which enhance a positive, creative approach to learning, language, problem solving, and interpersonal connections. We will continue to mentor writers through our free Howl With The Pack programs, including Writing Support Groups, occasional Writing Field Trips and Hermitages, and Monthly Writing Contests.
For novice writers who are not yet ready for the publication path, Grey Wolfe Publishing has developed a Writing Coach program which offers writers-in-transit the opportunity to work one-on-one with a writing coach to enhance areas of their manuscript that may require extra guidance. Plot and Character Development, World Building, Flow and Continuity, and a final Refine and Polish are all components of this coaching relationship. Writing Coaching sessions are flexible, with on-demand sessions via email, telephone, Skype or in-person, and are reasonably priced.
Traditional Publishing Options for Exceptional Authors New this year, Grey Wolfe Publishing will add to our Den a pack of “traditionally” published titles. We will focus our publishing efforts toward producing a small number of high quality books through an intense selection process. Throughout the year, we will make calls for specific genres, only accepting the very best manuscripts submitted. Authors of manuscripts selected for publication will enjoy full publishing services with no out-of-pocket expenses, full marketing support, and an above average industry comparable royalty return. Submission calls will be announced on our website, through email subscriptions, and through our social media channels. Be sure to sign up for our Newsletter to receive these submission calls as they appear! Learn more about traditional publishing with Grey Wolfe Here!
More Community Benefits For Authors The fourth step of our company’s reorganization will culminate in the development of a new Indie Author’s Cooperative, “The Author Den” emerging in late 2017 or early 2018. This author-created and subscription-funded division of Grey Wolfe Publishing will offer opportunities for authors to become involved in book festivals, workshops, conferences, marketing support, forums and other tools and resources aimed at helping authors discover new ways to enhance their craft and promote their work, not only in Michigan but nationwide. More information on this exciting program will be forthcoming as plans evolve.
The final step of our evolutionary journey, should we discover the ideal location, will be to open a bookshop in mid-2018 to early 2019. The “Grey Wolfe Scriptorium” will be a comfortable gathering place for readers and writers of all ages. Eventually, we will transfer our support groups and many of our workshops to the Scriptorium, as well as hosting both local and national bestselling authors for signing events, while offering new and used books for sale to bibliophiles and casual book buyers alike.
We are excited about the evolutionary process the publishing industry is experiencing, and we celebrate our active role in transforming into a company that serves writers, readers, and authors with a diverse collection of amenities, allowing each to realize their literary goals in a way that is most effective.
